Doug

Doug was one of my favorite shows growing up. As a child, I could relate to Doug because he was a normal kid just like me. In the beginning of the series, Doug moves to a new town and struggles to fit in and make friends. I remember when I transferred to different high school, it was similar to Doug’s moving experience. My social life moved to a new world. Like Doug, I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to make new friends. The first person that talked to me became my later best friend. High school was a challenge for me, however Doug always understood my struggles.

 

I loved Doug’s older sister, as a child I recall thinking she was so cool. Today, I would of deemed her weird, or a few marbles short. I wondered cased this change of heart. When I talked to my friends about how much my admiration of Doug’s Sister changed, she made an interesting remark. She said, “Older siblings were always cool, not awkward. No matter how weird I would assume things are in reality we never look at them like that.” After giving it some thought I agreed. As a child, I thought I was awkward and weird, thusly I admired anyone who was confident enough to be themselves.
